Art TRIBE
Featuring the Artwork of Dion Hitchings
Welcome to the intensely unique and ostentatiously vibrant mind of visual artist, Dion Hitchings. His drawings and paintings take you on a wildly colorful, psychedelic trip into a land of strange portraits with eerie eyes, abstract shapes and creepy nature scene. Born in Saint Louis, Missouri in the late 50's, Dion Hitchings took up drawing around the age of three and says "I never put the crayons down".
As a young man, Dion graduated from Washington University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. He went on to work as a Fashion Illustrator for several years. "I never felt like I fit in the 'normal world' so I decided to leave the Midwest," reveals Dion. "But not before meeting my significant other of the next 23 years."
Dion continued to hone his craft as a visual artist and eventually took an Art Director position in Chicago. "I never stopped drawing, but felt the best way to make a living was the commercial route."
At the top of his profession, Dion accepted a position as an Art Director for Bloomingdale's in New York City. "I was in fashion heaven, working with some of the best photographers, stylists and models in the world." While freelancing his art directing and illustration for other top company's such as Conde Naste, Avon, Saks Fifth Avenue and Aerosoles, Dion grew tired of living in the city and eventually moved to rural New Jersey.
